A short break from tatting.....

Image
Some days are worth getting up early for... A thumbs up from Nathan to Ben...probably cos I managed not to scare the crap out of him.... Right about now I am spewing that the flight has ended..... Not to worry though - Ben decided to go for a fly after I finished my lesson so I got to go up again.....and relax this time!!!

Bookmarks 12 to 15..... getting there!

Oh yeah...forgot I need to finish this challenge too!! So here is Bookmark number 12 ... Jane Eborall's Flowery SCMR bookmark which I ADORE!! http://www.janeeborall.freeservers.com/Flowerbookmark.pdf Done in Bre-Aly size 30 thread (hand dyed from Bre-Aly on Etsy) Another UFO bites the dust!! Bookmark 13 Julie Patterson's Spring Flowers Bookmark http://www.ringoftatters.org.uk/patterns/jpatterson/jp.html My "in flight" pattern LOL. Done in Pansy Perfect Quilter (about an 80) Bookmarks 14 and 15 Ok - maybe cheating a little using the same pattern but I LOVE the pattern. Top one is in Altin Basak and the bottom one is in Lizbeth Caribbean. Just needed tassels.....all better now! AHA!! Now thanks to MaureenL I know who to credit the pattern to. When I did it the first time and put it up here I had no idea who it was and did ask but all I got told was that it was an adaptation of an old Anna magazine pattern. So.... THANKYOU Jane McLellan for an absolutely wonder

And so the work begins.......

Thought I might just catalogue my tatting shuttles. Thinking it would take...oh...an hour or so?? Think again sunshine!!! This is just the start..... This is without adding my precious ones to the table!! Not even going to try to work out how much I have spent. But then there are 30 "working" Clovers in this lot...... not telling how many shuttles AREN'T on the table LOL. 6 Feb 2020 - I laugh at your silly idea that this is a lot of shuttles....pffffffffff......

UFO city.....

Image
Searching today for my wayward shuttle collection I found a few UFOs so I thought I had better spend the next few weeks finishing things and regain my "Good Girl" status of having no unfinished pieces..... So here is the first to be completed...started way back in 2010...oops..... The pattern is Siobhan by Judith Connors Thread is Anchor perle 12.

More for the collection....

Looks like things are nearly back to normal LOL....these two shuttles have been added to the collection. I have a couple lots...of the old black and white Milward shuttles but had never seen these Clover ones. Purchased this one from "furrybaby" on Etsy. Same material, different color and a neat little point. The seller of this one has another for sale that is black and white....and again...Clover! Does anyone know anything about these shuttles? Then came the Lydia Pinkham......fake or not?? Well according to research yes....However this one came from a collection that was quite old so not that sure any more. Who cares really - it is just a bit of fun collection....not a money maker!

Found in an edition of Olde Time Needlework - March 1977 (Shuttlebutt section)

A lovely surprise.......

Image
Some of you know that July 10 is not my favourite day of the year...still quite a depressing day for me actually despite the wonderful things that have happened in my life in the last 18 months. But today in the mail there was a beautiful surprise from far away!! Thank you so much Fox! This made my day worth a smile and gave me something else to think about. I think you have set up my next 25 motif challenge for me... to do all the items in this book!!

OOPSIE.......bit too cocky......LOL

Image
Well...this is what happens when you get too cocky and race headlong into a pattern whilst on a night shift. LOL. Night shift brain kicks in and you make an oopsie!!! The pattern is by PuggaPita (Karla) called Anna - and it is absolutely beautiful....until I get my hands on it and wreck it of course!!!!! Oh well - off to the corner to rewind shuttles and start again.....

TA DA..........!!!!!

Oh well......finally finished my "return" doily. A lovely pattern by Inga Madsen from issue 48 of the Danish Tatting Association magazine. Truly a gem of a magazine to subscribe to!! Being autumn here when I started it I thought I would have an autumn color scheme. Got to say though I was less than impressed with the Lizbeth thread I used. It had a lot of lumps in it - some undyed spots and 4 joins in the ball.... But it helped me decide that I no longer like tatting with size 20 threads so might be some giveaways on the horizon!! The shuttles Fox sent me worked a treat - I adore using them and the Clovers feel really clumsy in my hands now so I think I have had a change of heart about shuttles as well!! Thank you my tatting friends - your encouragement and support has made my return to tatting a wonderful experience and I am actually looking forward to the next projects!!....... Thought I had better put up some other pics as well.....so many things have happened in the past

The new additions....

Image
Finally got around to taking some photos of the new shuttles added to the collection over the last month or so.... First up.....the replacement Curly Maple from David Reed Smith was accompanied by a couple of others (yes Fox....your fault and I love you for it!!) One in Red Gum and one in Zebrawood. Next two wooden shuttles bought from smalcoin via eBay (they also have an Etsy shop) These have nice clover inlays in them. A fair bit larger than the shuttles I am used to but nice to have in the collection.. And finally - an old plastic bobbin-type shuttle that I know absolutely nothing about. So anyone who can give me some info? That would be great! They all arrived on the same day so it was a bit of a party opening them up! Now......on with the tatting. Nearly finished the doily.
